The Ms. Foundation has released their list of the top feminist celebrities of 2014, and actress Emma Watson is number one.
How Emma became number one this year:
As a UN Goodwill Ambassador, Watson helped found the He for She program this year and made a rousing speech urging men to take up the feminist mantle, telling them, “gender equality is your issue, too.”

It is official! Emma will be starring along side Daniel Brühl in “Colonia”, a political thriller by director Florian Gallenberger.
The Film Synopsis:
The movie is inspired by true events, Colonia “tells the story of Lena and Daniel, a young couple who become entangled in the Chilean military coup of 1973. Daniel is abducted by Pinochet’s secret police and Lena tracks him to a sealed off area in the south of the country, called Colonia Dignidad. The Colonia presents itself as a charitable mission run by lay preacher Paul Schäfer but, in fact, is a place nobody ever escaped from. Lena decides to join the cult in order to find Daniel.”
The film is based off of German Director Florian Gallenberger’s own script and according to IMDB will release sometime in 2015.
BAFTA Los Angeles has announced Emma Watson as this year’s recipient of The Brittania Award for British Artist of the Year.
“This honor pays tribute to a talented British artist whose outstanding performances have demonstrated the high quality of their craftsmanship. Whether an emerging talent, or an established name, the British Artist of the Year is a person who represents the best of UK’s talent”. – quote from BAFTA.
The award salutes “Individuals who have dedicated their careers to advancing the art forms of the moving image in the US, UK and beyond.” – BAFTA
Other honorees include Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo and Dame Judy Dench. The ceremony will be held on October 30th at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, and will broadcast on BBC America in the US on November 2nd.
